Meet the Team

Rebecca Root
GOsC registered Osteopath 8945
"I trained as an Osteopath at Oxford Brookes University, where I obtained my first class honours degree in Osteopathy. I currently practice as both an Osteopath and Sports Massage therapist, registered with the General Osteopathic Council and the Institute of Osteopathy and set up Balanced Osteopathy in October of 2014.
For me, osteopathy is about identifying musculoskeletal imbalances and altered biomechanics that have built up over time and led to injury. I treat in a structural way to restore balance to the whole body and reduce pain, and believe that an important part of what I do is educating people about how their own body works and what tweaks can be made to their normal routine to prevent recurrence of injury e.g changing running style, specific strength work or adjusting a desk set up!

I enjoy working with a variety of different clients and have experience treating a spectrum of musculoskeletal complaints. My passion for rehabilitation has resulted in a special focus on treating runners injuries, as well as a keen interest in pre and post-natal treatment."

Rebecca is available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Balanced Osteopathy.

Emilie Repponen (née Taillardat)
GOsC registered Osteopath 10507
"I studied at the University College of Osteopathy where I received a Master’s degree, graduating with distinction. I am a registered osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council and the Institute of Osteopathy; a qualified sports massage therapist and Level 4 Strength and Conditioning coach. I have a special interest in sports and exercise medicine and combine this with osteopathic expertise, which allows for a holistic approach to patient care.
I have had the privilege of working with athletes across a broad-spectrum including amateurs seeking to improve their performance and recover from injury to elite professionals. I use these skills in time away from clinic to work with a respected world tour cycling team, providing osteopathic support at training camps and races alongside clinical work which has allowed me to understand the unique demands of sport on human physiology and the implication for recovery. This combined with personal experience in sports, is used to optimise the health and recovery of my patients by way of a combination of structural osteopathic techniques and rehabilitation."

Emilie is available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Balanced Osteopathy.

Jen Nash
GOsC registered Osteopath 10491
"I graduated with a Master’s degree from the University College of Osteopathy (UCO). I am also a qualified sports massage and dry needle therapist. Coming from a background in competitive swimming, health and fitness have always been an integral part of my lifestyle, and I enjoy helping others recover from injury and learn about their bodies. As an osteopath, I work structurally, considering the treatment of the musculoskeletal system to be at the centre of my practice. I aim to provide patients with suitable and personalised tools to reach their goals – be that to reduce pain, improve performance, or prevent injury.

I enjoy applying evidence-informed practice alongside traditional osteopathic concepts, using my expertise in hands-on treatment and by introducing customised exercise or movement techniques to reinforce and prolong change. I aim to provide patients with the tools they need to continue recovering outside of the treatment room.

I have experience treating a wide range of patients of various ages, occupations or who have on-going health conditions."

Jen is available Tuesdays and Thursdays at Balanced Osteopathy.

Felix Schon
GOsC registered Osteopath 10502
"After 4 years of studies, I proudly graduated from the University College of Osteopathy with distinction. In order to bolster my skillset I went on the obtain qualifications in acupuncture and sports massage, which alongside my osteopathic training and previous work as a personal trainer, well equips me to treat individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of problems and goals.

My main interest in treating sports injuries, particularly strength sports, comes from a background in strength training and functional fitness which has honed my ability to provide specialised care. My interest in the sporting population goes back to my youth where I did ballet until I was 16, then focused on running before joining the army. After the army I found weightlifting and haven’t stopped since, trying any form I can including powerlifting, CrossFit, Olympic lifting, and bodybuilding. I also enjoy cycling when I’m not in the gym!

I take a holistic approach to my practice, believing the foundation of effective treatment begins with understanding the individual and their unique problem. By combining these personal features with my osteopathic training, sports medicine experience, and principles from strength sports I aim to create a well-rounded treatment plan which often includes a combination of hands-on techniques to relieve pain and improve mobility, personalised rehab programming to rebuild stronger and fitter than before, and education about lifestyles factors to enhance recovery.”

Felix is available Mondays and Wednesdays at Balanced Osteopathy.

Sofia McCorkindale
GOsC registered Osteopath 11009
"I studied at the European School of Osteopathy where I completed my masters degree in osteopathy. Since then I have accomplished an APPI Pilates teaching qualification and have developed a keen interest in women’s health which I am pursuing by currently completing a 2 year post graduate diploma in the subject.
I am passionate about treating all types of patients from desk workers, athletes and elderly to pre and post natal women, helping them return to their optimal health and achieve their goals. My past in competitive swimming and dancing alongside my own interest in sport and movement have given me an understanding of athletes’ needs and a keen interest to get patients out of pain/discomfort to help them live life as they desire.
I am enthusiastic about treating holistically using a combination of structural and osteopathic techniques. Since becoming an APPI-qualified Clinical Pilates teacher, I have thoroughly enjoyed educating patients on how to properly move their bodies and giving them the tools to strengthen and mobilise areas specific to their needs incorporating this in treatment sessions and 1-2-1 Pilates sessions.”

Sofia is available Wednesdays and Fridays at Balanced Osteopathy.
